Pair of Georgian Sheffield plated telescopic candlesticks 8” (20 cms) high extending to 9 1/2” (24 cms) high and 4 1/2” (11.5 cms) across the base and in excellent original condition.
They have a row of decorative floral embossed work around the bases, with more embossed work at the base of the column, half way up the column and again around the sconces which are removable for cleaning purposes.
These super candlesticks were made c 1820 and the silver plate is principally in good condition except for a small rim which is just above the base where polishing for almost 200 years has worn away some silver and it is possible to see a thin line of copper showing through.
They have no damage or repairs and our silversmith has simply cleaned and polished them. They extend easily and stay up firmly and all round are a super pair of antique candlesticks.
