Large antique sterling silver trinket box measuring 5” (12.5 cms) across x 4” (10 cms) deep x 1 1/2” (4 cms) high and having on the top a scene of a dancing couple, a couple sitting on a bench plus other figures and a dog and all around the edge are tavern scenes.
It is in beautiful condition and opens easily on its hinge and snaps shut cleanly.
Around the rim it has the mark GB which is for George Bedingham of London and also has the London hallmark date letter for 1905.
George Bedingham was well known as an importer of good quality silver items.
Underneath it has a German hallmark showing a galleon which is the mark for the silversmith Gebruder Dingeldein.
This is a beautiful box in excellent condition and weighing 232 grams.
