This is an unusual shape early Victorian bowl hallmarked for London 1844 with the silversmiths mark for Joseph Angell I & Joseph Angell II – it also shows the retailers mark for ‘J.Mayer, Goldsmith, 68, Lord St, Liverpool’.
It measures 5 1/2″ (14 cms) tall x 7″ (18 cms) across including the handles x 4 1/4″ (11 cms).
It weighs 369 grams and is in excellent condition (any marks you can see are just reflections).
It has an engraved squirrel and bird either side of a cartouche on both sides one of which is empty and the other has a crest engraved in it.
The front and back show decoration of a stag and bull surrounded by trees and leaves.
