This is a lovely antique late Victorian sterling silver hallmarked purse measuring 3 3/4" (9.5 cm) across x 2" (5 cm) and hallmarked for Birmingham 1900 with the silversmiths mark for Henry Matthews.
It has superb decoration on both sides - one side showing 'The Music Lesson' by Nicolas Lancret and the other has a lovely garden scene with a peacock sitting on a wall.
Inside is lined in a blue material which is nice and clean.
The whole item inside and out is in excellent condition (there is some light remains of gilding which has faded over time) and there are no inscriptions or monograms.
