This is an antique early Victorian hallmarked sterling silver snuff box measuring 3″ (8 cms) x 2″ (5 cms).
It opens and closes perfectly with a good strong hinge and the interior is in good condition with the original gilding inside.
It weighs 142.5 grams and is hallmarked for London 1844 with the silversmiths mark for Edward Edwards.
Inside the lid is engraved ‘Presented by the Members of the Amicable Philanthropic Society to Mr D Buckle as a token of respect for his valuable services as Hony Sectry, May 15th 1845’.
