This is an unusual antique Victorian sterling silver vesta case measuring 2″ (5 cms) tall x 1 1/4″ (3 cms) across and hallmarked for Birmingham 1895 with the silversmiths mark M & C.
It’s in super condition with no damage and is marked ‘Morton’s Patent, The Maze’ – you can see in the photos how the opening has an unusual shutter style closing which works as you turn the top of the vesta.
